About us

Every bibliophile knows the only way to improve a good book is by reading it while drinking a perfectly brewed cup of tea. We’ve taken this timeless duo a step further, blending the magic of literature into every leaf and sip.

Each of our blends is carefully crafted to capture the essence of a literary masterpiece. From bold, adventurous flavors inspired by Hemingway’s works to contemplative notes reminiscent of Jane Austen’s genteel narratives, our teas offer an immersive sensory experience.

There’s something inherently comforting about curling up with a good book and a warm cup of tea. It’s a ritual that slows time, allowing us to savor each moment and every word. Our teas enhance this experience, each flavor designed to complement your literary journey. Whether you’re traversing the windswept moors with Heathcliff and Cathy or pondering the mysteries of the universe with Douglas Adams, our teas provide the perfect accompaniment.

Just like classic literature, a good cup of tea is timeless. It transcends cultures and eras, bringing people together in a shared experience. Our literary-themed teas are not just beverages; they are a homage to the stories and characters that have shaped our world, inviting you to be part of this grand narrative.

So, fellow book lovers and tea enthusiasts, we invite you to explore our collection. Let’s embark on a journey where the lines between reality and fiction blur, and where every cup of tea is a gateway to another world. After all, in the company of a good book and a great cup of tea, anything is possible.

Lefa Singleton Norton, a writer and tea sommelier based in Naarm (Melbourne), is the owner of Story in a Teacup and its companion mobile bookstore On the Road Books. These two ventures combine her duel passions of books and tea.

After training in tea blending and tea pairing it occurred to her that she could create custom blends of tea to match some of her favourite books. There followed a book club where she paired the monthly book selection to a tea she had blended herself, and Story in a Teacup was born. Her many years working at literary festivals and libraries have paid off!
